As established in article 90 of Ministerial Decree 81/08 – January 2023 Consolidated law on safety Ministerial Decree 81/08:
On construction sites where the presence of multiple contractors is expected, even if not at the same time, the client, even in cases of coincidence with the contractor, or the project manager, at the same time as assigning the design assignment, designates the coordinator for the planning. A qualified professional in possession of the requirements referred to in Article 98 of Ministerial Decree 81/08

On construction sites where the presence of multiple executing companies is expected, even if not at the same time, the client or the person in charge of the works, before assigning the works, designates the coordinator for the execution of the works, in possession of the requirements set out in article 98 DM8/081
CSP - Safety Coordinator
in the design phase
Planning Coordinator (CSP): draws up the Safety and Coordination Plan (PSC) and prepares the file containing the useful information for the prevention and protection of the risks to which workers are exposed.
CSE - Safety Coordinator
during execution
Execution Coordinator (CSE): verifies the correct carrying out of the works, on the basis of the provisions of the Safety and Coordination Plan. The tasks of the CSE, in detail, are listed in the next paragraph.
